III. The vision of the cleansing of the sanctuary(Dan.8:14)
"Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man. And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision" (Dan.8:13-17).
A. Gabriel
The answer that Gabriel gave to Daniel explained only the ram and he goat vision, not the cleansing of the sanctuary(Dan.8:1-12, 16-25).
B. The reason for this conclusion
1. Because of the answer that Daniel received
The question was "How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and...the sanctuary…trodden under foot" (Dan.8:13)? The answer was, there would 2,300 days; (i.e. "evenings and mornings”- Heb.) then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. The question was DESTRUCTION, NOT CLEANSING! The response did not answer to the question. 2. Because of what Daniel said
And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days. And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood (Dan.8:26-27). Note:Why would Daniel say that "none understood," after Gabriel was told to "make this man (Daniel) to understand the vision" (Dan.8:15-25)?
C. These are two separate visions.
Daniel understood the ram and he goat vision (Dan.8:1-12, 16-25), but he did not understand the vision of the cleansing of the Sanctuary (Dan.8:15, 26-27).
I (Daniel) saw in a vision a ram (Media-PersiaDan.8:20) pushing westward, and north-ward, and southward;
so that no beasts (Living thing)[9]might stand before him,
(Media- Persia). Then a he goat (king of Grecia / Greece)
Dan.8:21, had a notable horn between his eyes. (Alexander
the Great)[10]) came from the west on the face of the whole
earth. Daniel saw him (the he goat / Greece) come close
unto the ram (Media-Persia), and there was none that could
deliver the ram out of his hand. Therefore the hegoat
(Greece) waxed very great: and when he was strong, the
great horn (notable) was broken; and for it came up four
notable ones (four of Alexanders Generals) And outof one
of them came forth a little horn, (Antiochus Epiphanies 175-164 BC)
which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward
the east, and toward the pleasant land (Jerusalem).

Note: This links the daily sacrifice to Antiochus Epiphanies (175-164 AD)which was in force before the Cross, history to us! The daily sacrifice was part of the Law of Moses (Num.28:24; 29:6, Heb.7:27; 10:11) that was to bring them (Israel) to Christ (Gal.3:24, Heb.9:1-10; 10:1-4). After the Crossthe "daily sacrifice" continues in the New Covenant in it's fulfillment in Christ(Matt.5:17-19, Rom.3:21-31; 8:1-4). Jesus ended all animal sacrifices. "There remaineth no more sacrifice for sins"(Heb.10:26-29). God is NOT going respect / honor animal sacrifices in the time of the end. a. All of these activities stay in History with the "daily sacrifice" (Dan.8:10-12)
(1) Waxed great, even to the host of heaven; (2) Cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. (3) Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host (4) The place of the sanctuary was cast down. (5) A host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, (6) Cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered. 2. The sanctuary being cleansed
When Daniel saw the vision of the "evening and morning / cleansing of the Sanctuary" (Note: v.14, 26) he did not understand it and he (Daniel) was told to "shut up" this vision, "for it shall be for many days" (Dan.8:26).
a. "Many days" is an end-time phrase
b. "Shut up"Note: Daniel was told to "shut up words, and seal the book even to the time of the end" (Dan.12:4). 3. Where in the "last days" is there a Temple / Sanctuary to be cleansed?
At this time, there is no physical, natural Temple ,Sanctuary. It was destroyed 70 AD. (Dan.9:24-27) with NO promise of rebuilding(Acts.7:47-48; 17:24). However there is a spiritual Temple being built (Eph.2:20-22, 1Peter.2:5-9). This Temple is the Church, the ONLY “sanctuary” of God today (John.2:18-20, Matt.23:36, Acts.7:47-48, 1Cor.6:19, 1Tim.3:15-16). When the Church has been built, i.e. come "unto the measure of the stature of Christ" (Eph.4:11-16), God will cleanse this sanctuary, i.e. His Church (Matt.13:24-30-, 36-43). (Review: Phase 4, Page.9 The Most Holy Place / Day of atonement)
This is because Christ cannot marry the Church with sinin it or else He would be "unequally yoked...for what fellowship hath righteous with unrighteousness" (2Cor.6:14)?
Since the Cross the Church has been "espoused" (engaged) to Christ (2Cor.11:3), but the Church has played "the harlot" (1Cor.6:15-20) with the things of this world (1John.2:16) and has become "adulterers and adulteresses" (James.4:1-4). This will disqualify many from being Christ's Bride, because the high priest (Jesus) can not marry an adulterer or a harlot (Lev.21:10-15, Heb.3:1, Matt.5:17-19).
Note: Many are expecting this sin problem to be dealt with "in the moment, in the twinkling of an eye" (1Cor.15:51-52), but the context here is only our mortal bodies putting on immortality.
It has nothing to do with your spiritual stature. This is what Daniel
