Spiritual Adultery

I.   Unadulterated
      In the English Dictionary - unadulterated |ˌənəˈdəltəˌrādəd| adjective not  mixed or diluted with any
      different or extra  elements; complete and absolutepure...(of food or drink) having no inferior added
      substances


      A.  Warnings from God not to tamper with (i.e. "adulterate") His Word
           The meaning of the English word "adulterate" is to render (something) poorer in quality by adding another
           substance. The origin: 16th century (as an adjective meaning ‘spurious’): from Latin adulterat- ‘corrupted,’ from the
           verb adulterare. The apostle Paul told the Corinthian Church, "I fear, lest by any means, 
as the serpent beguiled​ Eve
          
(Gen.3:1-6, 2Cor.11:1-15, note:v.4)  through his subtility,so your minds  should be corrupted from the  simplicity that is
          
in Christ
." (2 Cor.11:1-4)

B.  James writes, you "adulterers and adulteresses"
           Know ye (you) not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the
           world is the enemy of God." (Jam.4:1-4)

          2.  The world defined
                "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father
                 is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not
                 of the Father, but is of the world. (1John.2:16) And the world passeth away, (Matt.5:18) and the lust(1John.2:16)
                 thereof: but he that doeth
the will of God(Rom.12:1-2)abideth for ever." (1John.2:16)  Having affection, love,
                 liking, warmth, tenderness, kindness, devotion, endearment, attachment, friendliness with this world, is to be
                 unequally yoked (2Cor.6:13-18) with Jesus and is a spiritual adulterer. (James.4:1-4)

                 Note: This is why we need Jesus to
presented us as a chaste virgin by the washing of the Word. (Eph.5:26-27)

                             (a)  Lot was just seeing the unlawful deeds of Sodom vexed his righteous soul from day to day (2Peter.2:8)
                                    Note: The
example of Samson. (Judges.16:1-31) We need to guard our eyes. (Deut.6:8; 11:8 / Matt.5:17-19)
                             (b)  Eye needs to be single (Matt.6:22) 
singleness / simplicity in Christ. (Heb.12:2; 10:25)
                             (c)  We have five spiritual senses. One of those senses is sight.
We can spiritually See )i.e. our understanding
                                    and insight (Matt.13:10-17, Eph.1:18; 4:18, Luke.24:16, 25-31,2Cor.3:13-16, 2Peter.1:9) which we need to
                                    keep single and centered on the preeminence of Christ. (Luke.24:27-45, Col.1:18)   
                      (2)  Eve saw that the tree was good for food, yet it was
forbidden. (Gen.2:17, 3:6, 2Cor.11:4) Remember
                             this all started with a question, (a doubt) The serpent said "Yea hath God said?" 

                             Note: As a
espoused, chasted virgin to Christ (2Cor.11:4) we are to have no affection, love, liking,
                             warmth, tenderness, kindness, devotion, endearment, attachment, friendliness with this world, (i.e.
                             the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. (James.4:1-4, 1John.2:16)
                             This is spiritual adultery.


                 b.  Lust of the flesh(1John.2:16, James.4:1-4 / Spiritual adultery)
                      (1)  Flesh - (1Cor.1:29, Rom.7:18, 25; 8:5; 13:14, Gal.5:17-24 / Rom.6:1-11)
                      (2)  Eve saw the tree was good for food, yet it was
forbidden. (Gen.3:6, 2Cor.11:4)
                      (3)  As a espoused, chasted virgin to Christ (2Cor.11:4) we are to have no affection, love, liking, warmth,
                             tenderness, kindness, devotion, endearment, attachment, friendliness with this world, (i.e. the lust of

                            Note: We MUST remember that we are espoused (engaged, betrothed) to Christ right now, and any
                            "longing (especially for what is forbidden):—concupiscence, desire, lust (after). We are
espoused (engaged)
                            to be married to Christ. Remember, Joseph had the authority to put Mary away (Matt.1:18-19) according to
                            the Levitical Law. (Deut.24:1) Jesus our bridegroom has the same authority over us because He will fulfill
                            this Law. (Matt.5:17-19) He cannot deny Himself. (2Tim.2:13, Num.23:19, Heb.6:16-18)
              
        
3.  What is enmity?

                 a.  In the Old Testament "enmity" is defined as hostility:—emnity, hatred. [Strong's Con.OT.# H342
                      from H340;] Gen.3:15, Num.35:21-22
                 b.  In the New Testament "enmity" is defined as hostility; by implication, a reason for opposition: 
                     —enmity, hatred. as hostility:—emnity  [Strong's Con.NT.# 2189 of G2190] Luke.23:12, Rom.8:17,     
                      Eph.2:15



II. The example of what God considered adulteryof the House of Israel(Rom.15:4, 2Tim.3:16-17)
     

       The Prophet Jeremiah wrote, "The Lord said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, (Hast thou seen that which
       backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath
       played the harlot. And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her
       treacherous sister Judah saw it. And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I
      had
put her away, (Deut.24:1, Matt.1:19) and given her a bill of divorce;...






 
















































       A.  The History of House of Israelthat lead toplaying the harlot(Jer.3:6 / Rom.15:4)

             1.  Up to this time in History Israel had been a united nation.
             2.  Now God was dividing it into two "houses" (the House of Judah and the House of Israel

             3.  Jeroboam was the first king of the House of Israel

             4.  Under Jeroboam leadership,
appealed to the peoples convenience

                 feignedly, saith the Lord".

In the New Testament setting,  James warns us about the SAME thing happening to us TODAY!
