The Peace Offering

The voluntary Peace Offering
(The sacrifice of praise )
This offering was made through blood sacrifice upon the altar, (Lev.3:2-3) for a sweet savor, (Lev.3:5) but not for atonement.1 This is a difference between the Sin, Trespass and Burnt Offerings, they did make atonement. The Meal offering was different again, it had no blood sacrifice) Under the Old Covenant  the "Peace Offering" was a "freewill" offering of thanksgiving. (Ezekiel.46:12, Lev.19:5; 22:21-29, Num.4:13-21, Judges.20:26, 1Sam.11:15, 1Kings.8:63, 1Chron.16:1-2, 2 Chron.30:22; 33:16, Amos.5:22) The Hebrew word for "peace" is requital, i.e. a voluntary sacrifice in thanks. Note: (Lev.17:15)  It was to be the best with no blemishes. (Lev.22:21-25) Failure to give the best, is robbing God. (Mal.1:8; 3:8) Review: "What does the word"Offering"mean?

1.  The Peace Offering was voluntary (Lev.1:3)
     a.  Old Testament type
If "his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall
offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the
          Lord. (Lev 1:3-4)
     b.  New Testament reality / fulfillment
"I beseech you brethren." (to call near, i.e. invite, invoke (by imploration, hortation,
          consolation): Strong's
           (1)
God wants us of our "own  freewill"
consecrate ourselves unto Him, not by command.  We have been given the free choice,
just as Adam and Eve had the free choice.(Gen.2:16-17, Eph.5:26-27, 2Peter.3:14,
                Phil.3:1-15, 1John.3:2, 2Cor,3:1-18; 6:14-18)

          (2)  If we want to come to the "measure of the Man, Christ Jesus," (Eph.4:11-16) to be like
Jesus, we will want to offer freely this offering. Those that do not offer themselves as
a "living sacrifice" (Burnt Offering) "will suffer loss: They will not be in the Bride, but...
                (they still will be)...be saved
: yet so as by fire" (1Cor.3:13-15) They will be like Lot.
                (Gen.12:1-4; 13:5-13; 19:1-38, 2Peter.2:7-9)
"For whosoever will save his life shall
lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save
                it.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain  the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or
what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Mark 8:35-37)

Your worship and praise must be by your own freewill.

2.  Watchout for the counterfeit Peace Offering Offering!
There were false apostles coming into the Corinthian Church preaching "another Jesus."

     (2Cor.11:1-15)
The Churches of Galatia were being "removed from...Christ unto another
gospel..." and were perverting the gospel of Christ."
(Gal.1:6-9)
Any offering that ignores the
true Altar, the sacrifice of Christ, the shedding of Christ's blood, the sweetsmelling savor and
has any blemish, is another Jesus. The god of this world's counterfeit "Burnt Offering"

     (2Cor.4:4, Isa.14:14)
Dedicating yourself to all kinds of causes (Note: 1Cor.13:1-3)
thinking this
will get you to heaven because of all dedication.

There was standard requirements to offer each offering

The children of Israel called "the Church in the wilderness," (Acts.7:38) and their typical actions were "for our (The Church, the Body of Christ - Eph.1:22-23, Col.1:18) ensamples: (types) and
they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come."
(1Cor.10:1-11, Rom.15:4)
The reality or the fulfillment (Matt.5:17-19, Rom.3:31, Heb.9:1-26) of these standards are the same for the Church today.

1.  The Peace Offering was consumed by fire!
     God's Word is a "fire!"
Is not "my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that
breaketh the rock in pieces?" (Jer 23:29, 1Cor.3:13-15)
     (a)  He "shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire." (Matt.3:11-12)
     (b)  For "the day" (the day of atonement) shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire;
and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is." (1Cor.3:13-15)
     (c)  Beloved, "think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some
            strange thing happened unto you:"
(
1 Peter 4:12-13)  It is all part of the preparation to be the
Bride. Don't jump off the altar when the heat is on!

2.  Watch out for counterfeit Peace Offerings!
The Word of God must be the standard for our worship. Our singing and music must be
subjected to the fire of God's Word. There cannot be any "blemish" in our offering. The god
     of this world
counterfeit "peace offering"(2Cor.4:4, Isa.14:14) Praising the gods of silver
and gold. This is what the Babylonians were doing when they were offering a false peace
offering to Nebuchadnezzar's golden image. (Dan.3:13-18)

Your worship and praise will be tested by the consuming fire of the Word of God

2.  The Peace offering was placed on the only altar

Today, most think of "the altar" as being a bench in the front of the Church. However,
the "Most High dwelleth not in Temples made with hands."(Acts.7:47-48) There is no sacred
property in the New Testament. We are the "holy Temple."(Eph.2:20-22, 1Peter.2:5) We are the
ground.(2Cor.4:7) The "altar" that God recognizes under the New Covenant (Testament) is
the Lord Jesus Christ. (Heb.13:10)The altar was the only place of sacrifice.
(Lev.17:1-11,
      1Peter.1:18-20)
The altar was the only place where blood was shed to provide atonement.
      (Lev.17:1-11, Exod.30:9, John.14:6, 1Tim.2:5)
Man-made "altar's" could never do this! Even in
the Tabernacle model, God said that He had "no pleasure" because it could never take away sin.
      (Heb.10:1-10) "
Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which
sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering of sacrifice,
And bringeth it not unto the door of
the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the Lord; even that man shall be cut off from
      among his people." (Lev 17:8-9)

Your Peace Offering must be upon the Altar of the Lord Jesus Christ

3.  The Peace offering required sacrifice and the shedding of blood
Our justification before God is always through the atoning blood of the The Lord Jesus Christ.
Adam and Eve "sewed fig leaves," (Gen.3:7) but God slew an animal and covered their sin
with "coats of skin" (Gen.3:21, Heb.4:13)

Your Peace Offering must be through the shed blood of Christ

4.  The Peace offering required the sweetsmelling odor
Every offering was to have "a sweet savour unto the Lord." (Gen.8:21, Lev.1:9; 2:2; 3:5; 4:31)

"Christ...hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour."
      (Eph.5:1-2, 2Cor.2:15)

Your worship and praise must have the "preeminence" of Christ

5.  Only the priests could offer the Peace Offering
In the Old Testament "ensample"(type, shadow, figure) "the priests, Aaron's sons. shall bring
     the blood and sprinkle the blood..."(Lev.1:5, 7, 11; 2:2, 9; 3:2, 8; 4:7) There were those
the assume the office of a priest, and were rejected. (1Kings.12:30-33; 13:16, 2Chron.26:16-23,
1Sam.13:12; 15:1-35) No "strangers!" No unbeliever! No unsaved!  God
still requires that we be found in the correct "register" and "genealogy."
(Num.1:47-54, Eph.2:11-     19) that begins in Christ Jesus. (John.3:1-8, 2Cor.5:17-21)

If you are not a priest your Worship and praise is for nothing.

6.
Under the New Covenant  fulfillment
The writer of  the book of Hebrews tells us that "we have an altar," (Heb.13:10)  Jesus, and it
is by Him (1Peter.2:5) that we offer the sacrifice of praise (the Peace Offering)...that is, the fruit
of our lips giving thanks to His name."(Heb.13:15)
     a.  Paul and Silas
This is the"spiritual" sacrifice that Paul and Silas offered while in prison. (Acts.16:25-31)
     b.
The giving of "thanks" (i.e. the Peace Offering) is in Paul's letter (epistle) to the Corinthians,
          (1Cor.14:26) Ephesians (Eph.5:19) and the Colossians. (Col.3:16)

Note:How David, under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, placed together, the "lifting
up his hands as the evening sacrifice. i.e. the Burnt Offering. (Psa.141:2)

7.  In the "shadow" (Heb.10:1) blood was shed (Lev.3:1-2) but not for atonement. It
was through the shed blood, thanks was given. (Lev.7:15)
Under the New Covenant
Testament) we offer the "peace offering" (that is the fruit our lips giving thanks to His
name - Heb.13:15-16) through the blood of Christ (Heb.10:13,19) that has already

atoned for our sin. (Eph.2:1-19)

     a.  No matter how hard we worship, give thanks and praise, it does not  redeem us
through our worship. We give thanks and praise God because we are redeemed
already through the Sin Offering. (Review "Sin Offering" page 1 of 2)
     b.  Before you enter into worship the pattern calls for the Sin and Trespass offerings to
be offered first or else "leave thy gift" (i.e. your Burnt [consecration, sanctification,
          being set apart
], Meal [ giving of material things, good works] and your Peace
[ thanksgiving and praise] offerings) "and go thy way; first be reconciled...
then come and offer  thy gift" (i.e. Burnt, Meal and Peace Offerings) Matt.5:23
     c.  When Israel took the Ark of the Covenant into battle against the Philistines, they assumed
that their "great shout" would give them the victory. They were mistaken and the Ark was
taken captive because their "life style" was corrupt. (1Sam.1-4) Just because we worship
(offer our peace offering) with all our heart, soul and mind, it does not release you from
your accountability for the Sin, Trespass offerings.

8.  Our "peace offering" (that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name Heb.13:15) is to
     be t
otally consumed by the fire (Lev.3:5) of God's Word. (1Cor.3:13-15, Jer.23:19,
     Matt.3:10-11, Heb.12:29, 1Peter.1:7)
Our praise needs to continually tried by the fire of
     God's Word (Psa.105:19 / Psa.66:10, 1Peter.1:7) to purge out (John.15:1-2) that the "chaff"
of man's "philosophies" (Col.2:8) be totally burned away.

9.  This Peace Offering could have no Blemish! (Note: Mal.1:6-9; 3:8)
This is what the Prophet Malachi was speaking to the House of Judah. He prophecied "Ye offer
polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The
table of the Lord is contemptible.
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer
the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or
accept thy person? saith the Lord of hosts."
(Mal 1:7-8) This is robbing God! (Mal.3:8)

     a.  Each offering must not be "Blind." (Lev.22:21-23)
The blemish of "blindness" (2Peter.1:5-9, Matt.13:10-17, Eph.1:18)  Some translations use
"heart" instead of "eyes."  This does not change the thought of our lack of understanding is
          being blind. (Matt.13:16, Luke.24:16, 25-31, 2Cor.3:13-16, Eph.4:18) To offer a "spiritual
sacrifice" (i.e. The Sin, Trespass, Burnt, Meal or Peace Offering) devoid of the Word of God
is a blemish of blindness, and is robbing God
.(Mal.1:8; 3:8) Note: Matt.23:23
     b.  Each offering must not be "broken." (Lev.22:22-23)
Unfaithfulness. (Prov.25:19) To offer any of these five offerings with unfaithfulness in our life
towards God is a blemished offering
(Eph.5:26-27) and is robbing God.(Mal.1:8; 3:8)
          Note: Matt.23:23

     c.  Each offering must not be "maimed." (Lev.22:22-23)
Maimed is to be crippled or damaged. English: is to mutilate, disfigure, or wound seriously.
The Hebrew word is to point sharply, i.e. (literally) to wound. To offer any crippled offering is
to deprive yourself the of capability for service or of strength, efficiency, or wholeness.
     g.  Each offering must not be an offering "having a wen." (Lev.22:22-23)
Having an offering that is mutilated, disfigured, or wounded seriously is robbing God.
(Mal.1:8; 3:8 / Note: Matt.23:23) Paul spoke of those the "corrupt the Word of God
(2Cor.2:17) Jude wrote, that there were
"certain men crept in unawares...turning the grace of
God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and or Lord Jesus  Christ."
(Jude.1:4)

These "certain men" were disfiguring the Grace of God.
     h.  Each offering must not have "scurvy."
(Lev.22:22-23)
          The word "
Scurvy" is from an unused root meaning to scratch;[ to scrape or rub oneself lightly
(as to relieve itching) scurf (from itching) In these "last days," there are those that "heap to
themselves teachers itching ears," because they will not "endure sound doctrine."
(2Tim.4:3)
When we offer our "spiritual" sacrifices with the "scurvy" of  the doctrines of men that appease
our flesh, it is "robbing" God. (
Mal.1:8; 3:8)

  i.  Each offering must not be "scabbed." (Lev.22:22-23)
          "Scabbed"- is
to stick or scrape; scurf [thin dry scales detached from the epidermis especially
in an abnormal skin condition; specifically : dandruff] or tetter [any of various vesicular skin
diseases (as ringworm, eczema, and herpes) Our "spiritual sacrifice / offering" must be
without the blemish of allowing yourself to be infected by the popular opinion, trends, fads that
infect the Church world, rather than abiding by the principles and patterns of God's Word.
          (2Sam.15:24-29./v.17, 1Sam.15:24; 16:7, 2Cor.4:18)  To offer a "spiritually sacrifice" that is
"scabbed," is a blemished  offering and robbing God. (Mal.1:8; 3:8)

      j.  Each offering was to have no "superfluous thing." (Lev.22:22-23)
          "Superfluous"- is t
o prolong, i.e. (reflex) be deformed by excess of members.  Our "spiritual
offering must be free of "excess" in our lives. In our walk before the Lord must be in
          moderation
(Phil.4:5 - [appropriate, i.e. (by implication) mild] 1Cor.13:4, Matt.23:12,
          1Peter.5:6)
or else it is blemished and robbing God.
(Mal.1:8; 3:8)
     k.  Each offering must give off a "sweet smelling savor."
(Lev.1:9; 2:2; 3:5, 16; 4:31,
          Eph.5:1-2, Phil.4:18)
Our offering must have the sweet smelling savor of Christ. (Eph.5:1-2,
          2Cor.2:14-16)

     l.  Each
offering must be offered by a "Priest." (Num.1:47-54, Lev.1:9, 15; 2:2; 3:2, 16.
1Peter.2:5, Rev.1:6)  We become priests when we are born again.

  m.  Each offering must be the atoning blood sacrifice (
Lev.1:5; 3:2; 4:4, Col.1:14)  The "meal
offering" was the only offering that did not have atoning blood, because this offering points to
our good works (Eph.2:8-10) and giving of material things. (Review the "Meal Offering.")

10.Our 'peace offering" should produce a "
sweetsmelling savor." (Lev.3:5) The
apostle Paul, the "wise masterbuilder" (architect, reader of blueprints) interprets Christ to
be the fulfillment of the "sweet savor" of the Levitical offerings. (Eph.5:1-2, Matt.5:17-19,
     2Cor.2:14-16)
This "savor" was vital in the offerings because without it, the offering was
     rejected. (Gen8:20-21, Lev.1:9,9; 2:2, 9, 12; 20:31, Amos5:21)
Without Christ being
preeminent  in all we do(Col.1:18; 3:17) our peace offering (worship and praise) is
offered to ourselves, just like the Pharisee that "prayed with himself." (Luke.18:11)

What does you worship and praise smell like? Does you singing and how you play your
instrument produce an odor of "life unto life," or "death unto death?"  (2Cor.2:15)  For it

by  "their fruits ye shall know them." (Matt.7:15-20)
When David "took an harp, and
played with his hand...Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from
     him." (1Sam.16:23)
Does your music and playing bring separation from this world, or does
the things of this world remain?

11.
Only those that the are "born again" into the priesthood of the believer (John.3:1-9
     1Peter.2:5-9, Rev.1:6; 5:10)
can offer this Peace offering. Those that refuse Christ are
     "strangers" (Num.1:51; 3:38, Eph.2:1-19 / Note:v.19) and their "form of godliness,"
i.e. their Peace Offering (2Tim.3"5) is refused.  In this day and age of "Laodicea," "there
are certain men (singers and entertainers 5) crept in unawares" (Jude.1:4) and have
"polluted" (Neh.7:63-65) the "holy things," the pattern of worship the God gave to David
     (1Chron.15-16; 23:25-30; 25-28:19)
