(Continued from "The Five Levitical Offerings," Page 1 of 2) The voluntary Peace Offering (The sacrifice of praise )
This offering was made through blood sacrifice upon the altar, (Lev.3:2-3) for a sweet savor, (Lev.3:5) but not for atonement.1 This is a difference between the Sin, Trespass and Burnt Offerings, they did make atonement. The Meal offering was different again, it had no blood sacrifice) Under the Old Covenant the "Peace Offering" was a "freewill" offering of thanksgiving. (Ezekiel.46:12, Lev.19:5; 22:21-29, Num.4:13-21, Judges.20:26, 1Sam.11:15, 1Kings.8:63, 1Chron.16:1-2, 2 Chron.30:22; 33:16, Amos.5:22) The Hebrew word for "peace" is requital, i.e. a voluntary sacrifice in thanks. Note: (Lev.17:15) It was to be the best with no blemishes. (Lev.22:21-25) Failure to give the best, is robbing God. (Mal.1:8; 3:8) Review: "What does the word"Offering"mean?
1. Under the New Covenant
fulfillment the writer of the
book of Hebrews tells us that
"we have an altar,"
(Heb.13:10) Jesus, and it is
by Him (1Peter.2:5) that we
offer the sacrifice of praise
(the Peace Offering)...that is,
the fruit of our lips giving thanks
to His name."(Heb.13:15)

that Paul and Silas offered
while in prison. (Acts.16:25-31)
_______________
The giving of "thanks"
(i.e. the Peace Offering)
is in Paul's letter (epistle)
to the Corinthians,
(1Cor.14:26) Ephesians
(Eph.5:19) and the
Colossians. (Col.3:16)
________________
Note: How David,
under the inspiration of the
Holy Ghost, placed together,
the "lifting up his hands as the
evening sacrifice. i.e. the Burnt
Offering. (Psa.141:2)
2. In the "shadow" (Heb.10:1) blood was shed (Lev.3:1-2) but not for atonement. It
was through the shed blood, thanks was given. (Lev.7:15) Under the New Covenant
Testament) we offer the "peace offering" (that is the fruit our lips giving thanks to His
name - Heb.13:15-16) through the blood of Christ (Heb.10:13,19) that hasalready atoned for our sin. (Eph.2:1-19)
a. No matter how hard we worship, give thanks and praise, it does not redeem us
through our worship. We give thanks and praise God because we are redeemed
already through the Sin Offering. (Review "Sin Offering" page 1 of 2) b. Beforeyou enter into worship the pattern calls for the Sin and Trespass offerings to
be offered firstor else "leave thy gift" (i.e. your Burnt [consecration, sanctification,
being set apart], Meal [ giving of material things, good works] and your Peace
[ thanksgiving and praise] offerings) "and go thy way; first be reconciled... then come and offer thy gift" (i.e. Burnt, Meal and Peace Offerings) Matt.5:23
c. When Israel took the Ark of the Covenant into battle against the Philistines, they assumed
that their "great shout" would give them the victory. They were mistaken and the Ark was
taken captive because their "life style" was corrupt. (1Sam.1-4) Just because we worship
(offer our peace offering) with all our heart, soul and mind, it does not release you from
your accountability for the Sin, Trespass offerings.
3. Our "peace offering" (that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name Heb.13:15) is to
be totally consumed by the fire (Lev.3:5) of God's Word. (1Cor.3:13-15, Jer.23:19,
Matt.3:10-11, Heb.12:29, 1Peter.1:7) Our praise needs to continually tried by the fire of
God's Word (Psa.105:19 / Psa.66:10, 1Peter.1:7) to purge out (John.15:1-2) that the "chaff"
of man's "philosophies" (Col.2:8) be totally burned away.
4. Our 'peace offering" should produce a "sweetsmelling savor." (Lev.3:5) The
apostle Paul, the "wise masterbuilder" (architect, reader of blueprints) interprets Christ to
be the fulfillment of the "sweet savor" of the Levitical offerings. (Eph.5:1-2, Matt.5:17-19,
2Cor.2:14-16) This "savor" was vital in the offerings because without it, the offering was
rejected. (Gen8:20-21, Lev.1:9,9; 2:2, 9, 12; 20:31, Amos5:21) Without Christ being preeminent in all we do, (Col.1:18; 3:17) our peace offering (worship and praise) is
offered to ourselves, just like the Pharisee that "prayed with himself." (Luke.18:11)
What does you worship and praise smell like? Does you singing and how you play your
instrument produce an odor of "life unto life," or "death unto death?" (2Cor.2:15) For it
by "their fruits ye shall know them." (Matt.7:15-20) When David "took an harp, and
played with his hand...Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from
him." (1Sam.16:23) Does your music and playing bring separation from this world, or does
the things of this world remain?
5. Only those that the are "born again" into the priesthood of the believer (John.3:1-9
1Peter.2:5-9, Rev.1:6; 5:10) can offer this Peace offering.4 Those that refuse Christ are "strangers" (Num.1:51; 3:38, Eph.2:1-19 / Note:v.19) and their "form of godliness,"
i.e. their Peace Offering (2Tim.3"5) is refused. In this day and age of "Laodicea," "there
are certain men (singers and entertainers 5) crept in unawares" (Jude.1:4) and have
"polluted" (Neh.7:63-65) the "holy things," the pattern of worship the God gave to David
(1Chron.15-16; 23:25-30; 25-28:19)
6. No blemishes in our Worship (Peace offering.6) Review: The Five Levitical Offerings, (page 1 of 2) #4 What does the word offering mean, a - f.
7. The god of this world counterfeit "peace offering"(2Cor.4:4, Isa.14:14) Praising the gods of silver and gold. This is what the Babylonians were doing when they were
offering a false peace offering to Nebuchadnezzar's golden image. (Dan.3:13-18)
Giving money and material things is a spiritual sacrifice (The freewill Meal Offering)
Under the Old Covenant there was no blood sacrifice with this offering. (Lev.2:1-2) It has nothingto do with atonement for sin, our trespasses or our consecration unto the Lord.
(Lev.2:1-2; 9:4,17; 14:10, 20, 31. Lev.25:6, Num.6:13-21, 1Kings8:4, Neh.10:33, Joel.2:14, Mal.3:10) It was the "fruit of the ground," it was avoluntary (Num.29:39) "Meat" (i.e. food) offering made of fine flour. Even though it was not a blood sacrifice, it had to be offered on the Brazen Altar(Lev.2:2) and totally consumed with fire for a sweetsmelling savor, (Lev.2:2) It should also be noted that, there was no leaven allowed in this offering. (Lev.2:11)
1. Under the New Testament fulfillment this points to our own efforts, labor,
good works of our hands. Whereas
the animals that were sacrificed for the
Sin, Trespass, Burnt and Peace
offerings were none of Israel's doings.
(Isa.62:8)
Paul, the apostle and wise master builder (architect -1Cor.3:10) reads the
blueprint of the Old Testament type
and builds into the Church a clear
distinction between Salvation (The Sin
Offering) andgood works.(The Meal /
Meat / Food Offering) (Eph.2:6-10,
Matt.5:16, 1Tim.6:18,
2Tim.3:17, 1Peter.2:12)
"For we are...created (Saved - 2Cor.5:17)
unto good works (The works of our
hands)
Don't be deceived, your "good works"
does not justify you before God. Only
the sinless blood of Christ. (The Sin
offering) justifies you before God.
Col.1:14) You can cannot add anything to it. (Deut.12:32, Prov.30:5)
This is why there is no atoning blood sacrifice in the Meal (Meat, Food) Offering, because
our righteousness is as "filthy rags." (Isa.64:6) "(that is in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing:"
(Rom.7:18)
2. Our good works (Meal / Food / Meat Offering)needs to be free of "leaven" (Lev.2:11) Leaven is a type of the weakness of our sinful human flesh. (Matt.16:6-12, Luke.12:1,
1Cor.5:6-8, Gal.5:9) ()The "leaven" of the Pharisees was a doctrine of hypocrisy. (Matt.16:12,
Luke.12:1) They loved to do do their "alms" (compassionate) to be seen of men. (leaven) Here is a simple test. If you have giving something, and did not receive the recognition to you
thought you deserved, or you want to control where that giving goes, youhave just offered your
Meal / Meat / Food Offering with leaven in it and it is a "blemished offering! (Note: Ananias and
Sapphira. Acts.5:1-11)
3. Our good works (Meal Offering) needs to remain on the Altar to be burned with fire. Our
"alms" (good deeds) needs to put to the fire of the Word of God, to "see what sort (kind) it
is." (1Cor.3:13) It is Gold, Silver and Precious stones or Wood, Hay and Stubble?
4. Our good works (Meal Offering) needs to be "an odor of a sweet smell. a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God." (Phil.4:15-18) That "odor of a sweet smell" is the
preeminence of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Eph.5:1-2, Col.1:18; 3:17) The "meal offering" of
Ananias and Sapphira did not have that "sweet smelling savour" of Christ (Eph.5:1-2) and
was rejected. (Acts.5:1-11)
5. The god of this world's counterfeit "Meal Offering"(2Cor.4:4, Isa,14:14) Giving to causes and letting everyone know about on the nightly News, or some ribbon cutting
ceremony acknowledging you gift.
The heave, drink and wave Offerings
These "heave" offerings, "wave offerings"(Exod.29:23-28) and "drink offerings" where always
used with these five Levitical Offerings. (Exod.29:18, 26-28, 38-41)
1. The "heave" offering. (a present [as offered up] especially in sacrifice or tribute)
The "heave offering was the shoulder of the burnt offering of consecration for Aaron.
(Exod.29:26)
2. The "wave" offering. (To quiver, vibrate up and down - Strong's) The "wave offering" was the
breasts of the sacrifice (the burnt offering) that consecrated Aaron, the high priest.
(Exod.29:18, 26,) With the Peace offering. (Lev.7:28-34) With the trespass offering
(Lev.14:12)
3. The "drink" offering. The "drink offering" was the flour, Oil and wine offered that was offered
with the Burnt Offering. (Exod.29:38-41) Paul spoke of being offered as a "drink offering"
(apparently a primary verb; to pour out as a libation, i.e. (figuratively) to devote (one's life or
blood, as a sacrifice) ("spend") Strong's (2Tim.4:6)
(More notes to come on the Heave, Wave and Drink Offerings)
Conclusion: These Offerings are a "schoolmaster" (the blueprint) to bring us to Christ. (Gal.3:24, Matt.5:17-19)
From "Adam to Moses sin was "not imputed" (Rom.5:12-14) because there was no law and man approached God through the coats of skins, (Gen.3:21) the firstlings (Lamb) of the flock, (Gen.4:1-4) and Altar, (Gen.8:20; 12:8) Then God wanted to "dwell among them" (Exod.25:8) which brought knowledge, structure, principle, accountability. (With knowledge comes responsibility James.4:17, Rom.3:20) This pattern foreshadowed how to approach God's presence through Christ Jesus (Gal.3:24, Matt.5:17-19, Rom.3:21-31, Luke.24:27, 44-45) who came to bring "grace and truth." (John.1:17) Grace and truth does not destroy the "schoolmaster" pattern of the Sin Offering, Trespass Offering, Burnt Offering, Meal Offering and Peace Offering. Grace and truth includes every "jot"(the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet of these offerings) and "title"(the accent on certain letters of these offerings) in Himself. (Matt.5:17-19) Law and Grace does not void each other. (Rom.3:31)
To summarize:
1. The Sin Offering is "the schoolmaster to bring us" to the absolute command to accept
The Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. (There is no choice) The Bride
that the Father God is preparing for His Son will have this offering fulfilled in their lives.
2. TheTrespass Offering is the schoolmaster to bring us to" the mandatory / compulsory
forgiving another in Christ Jesus. There will be no trespasses / faults in the Bride of Christ,
because He cannot be unequally yoked with unforgiving. (faults)
3. TheBurnt Offering is "the schoolmaster to bring us to" the voluntary consecrating /
separate of ourselves completely to God will in our lives. The "glorious church without spot or
wrinkle" (The Bride) will want to freely (voluntarily) dedicate themselves to love and serve
Him. The questions is, "do we want to marry Christ for His money (so-to-speak) or because
we love Him?"
4. The Meal Offering is "the schoolmaster to bring us to" freelygiving of our material things (
good works) The "glorious Church" (The Bride of Christ) will not neglect this offering.
5. The Peace offering is "the schoolmaster to bring us to" freelyworship God in thanksgiving
and praise, "according to the pattern" that God gave David, a "man after God's own heart."
The Bride will have a "continually" have a praise on her lips, "giving thanks to His name.
These statutes are "forever." (not destroyed)
Jesus came, fulfilled the Law (i.e. the type and the shadow Matt.5:17-19, Rom.10:4, Heb.9:1-11)
The only way they are forever, (Lev.3:17; 6:18, 22; 7:34) is to continue in their fulfillment in Christ.
My check list before going to the House of God to offer my "spiritual" offerings. (Eccl.5:1-5)
1. Have I taken care of my Sin Offering? - You must (compulsory) be born again." Have you
received Christ as your personal Saviour?
2. Do you have any unresolved trespasses / unforgiveness towards anyone? You must
(Compulsory) forgive. No options! (Trespass Offering)
3. These must be taken care of BEFORE drawing nigh to God. (James.4:8)
4. Are you prepared to freely present yourself as a living, consecrated, separated sacrifice (The
Burnt Offering) unto the Lord?
5. Have you freelygiven of your money and material things to those that have need. (1John.3:17,
Acts.4:32-37, James.2:15) or have you said, "Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled;
notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful; what does it profit."
6. When you enter the House of God, do you give thanks freelyand without blemishes
7. None of these offerings can be "blemished." (Review: "Blemishes") You may be offering the
"form" (2Tim.3:5) of these offerings, but giving the lame, blind, scabbed
To be continued.

1. The Sin, Trespass, and burnt offerings were made for atonement, but the Peace offering was only for thanksgiving. Before offering the incense upon the Golden Altar, the individual must have FIRST offered atonement upon the Brazen Altar. No blood sacrifice can be made on the Golden Altar. (Exod.30:9)
2. Review: The Five Levitical Offerings, (page 1 of 2) #3 Only the priests could offer sacrifice. 3. Think on this! It was "the sound of...all kinds of music" that caused the people to "fall down and worship the image" that
Nebuchadnezzar had made. This is consider by most to be a foreshadowing of the Music is a international language.
